Our story begins with a young, passionate chef whose love for her culture and community sparked the vision for Shirley’s Table. Inspired by the rich traditions of Jamaican cuisine, she set out to create something new — a fusion of flavors that both honors her roots and introduces bold, modern twists. Each dish is crafted to enlighten and enhance the essence of Jamaican cooking, reimagined in her own unique way.
The name Shirley’s Table is a tribute to her late grandmother, Shirley — a woman whose own love and passion for food inspired generations. By carrying her name forward, we honor her legacy and the spirit of gathering, sharing, and celebrating through food. Today, that passion is brought to life in South Florida, where Shirley’s Table shares curated flavors, heartfelt hospitality, and unforgettable dining experiences.
Chef Ashbourne was born and raised in Jamaica, where her deep love for food and culture first began. After moving to the United States at a young age, she found her passion for cooking while involved in her high school’s culinary program. There she gained certifications, honed her skills, and even won the Young Florida Panthers Chef Competition.
Later, while living in Michigan, she noticed a lack of Jamaican and Caribbean culinary influences in Lansing. This inspired the idea for Shirley’s Table, a way to share the richness of Jamaican culture through food. After years of trial, error, and discovery, Chef Ashbourne decided to return to culinary school to perfect her craft and expand her knowledge.
Today, with that foundation of dedication and cultural pride, she brings you Shirley’s Table a fusion of tradition, innovation, and heart, served with the same passion that has guided her journey from Jamaica to South Florida.
